Hey all!
I came across this forum while trying to ... well, frankly, figure out what to search for for what I want to do.
I have an old Strat neck, and I'm considering turning it into a practice Fretboard to keep in, maybe, the car or the office. Something like one of these:

I'm not sure that link will work.. All it is is a neck with strings. That one can fit in your pocket (it's only 8 frets).
I'm wondering if any of you've ever done this before. What I'm thinking of doing is simply screwing a regular Strat bridge to the base of the neck. Do you think that would work?
What about if I cut the neck in half? Does that destroy it completely? Obviously it doesn't have to sound good. It's just for practice.
The other thing I'm considering is building a hubcap guitar. I saw a guy on a show called "Extreme Cheapskates" who did that and it sounded very unique.
Naturally we're total strangers and I'm a newbie so I don't really expect a bunch of people to respond. But I would really appreciate it if you did! Even if you had any other ideas as to what I can do with this fretboard, I am all ears.
